Article Detail:

Imports

Seriatim Inforce file

Format:
  • Fixed-width ASCII file (each records contains fields with fixed position, length and format),
  • Any ODBC compliant source via linking to intermediate MDB (MS Access) format file and using Collect Records from a Remote Table
Method of import: User inputs file layout and performs loading to AXIS DataLink table.
Drivers/software: No additional software/drivers needed for ASCII files. ODBC driver required for other sources. AXIS DataLink license is required
Manual/Batch process Yes/Yes
Additional information: 34155, 34129

Assumptions

Table values

Format:
  • MS Excel 95-2007,
  • WK3 Lotus spreadsheet,
  • ASCII comma-delimited or fixed width,
  • FoxPro (DBF), MS Access table,
  • CodeBase (DBF) table,
  • SOA Standard Format Tables (Table Manager database).

Certain structure (set of mandatory columns) is required for each type of the information

Methods of import: Method 1:The source file is read into AXIS Import/Export database, then imported into AXIS

Method 2: Assumptions and Table values can be loaded into AXIS DataLink table and then sent to AXIS

Method 3: Table values can be imported from SOA Standard Format Tables

Drivers/software: For method 1: DAO ISAM drivers (part of standard AXIS libraries installation)

For method 2: No additional software/drivers needed. AXIS DataLink license is required

For method 3: No additional software/drivers needed.

Manual/Batch process Yes/Yes
Additional information: KB#84, 34189, 30545

Exports

Assumptions

Table values

Results: All Vendor supplied and User defined (custom) Reports

Query results

System logs

Format:
  • MS Excel 95-2007,
  • WK3 Lotus spreadsheet,
  • ASCII comma-delimited or fixed width file,
  • FoxPro (DBF),
  • CodeBase (DBF) table,
  • MS Access database ,
  • MS SQL Server (via OLE DB Provider)
  • Adobe PDF
Methods of export:

Method 1: Export to AXIS Import/Export database from a variety of manual and batch options. Then export to external files of the above formats.

Import/Export database can also be located directly on MS SQL Server.

Method 2: Direct export to Excel or text files from almost every grid based screen in interactive mode and certain batch jobs.

Method 3: Query results can be sent to Import/Export database or directly to Excel/Text file

Method 4: Export to Adobe PDF format files for various reports and screens. Interactively (File/Send To File/Send To PDF...menu) or in batch.

Drivers/software: For method 1: DAO ISAM drivers (part of standard AXIS libraries installation). OLE DB provider for MS SQL Server. CodeBase SQL ODBC driver for exports to CodeBase format.

For method 2: MS Excel installed for "Send to Excel" options

For method 3: No additional software/drivers needed.

For method 4: Optional PDF driver required (included as part of AXIS Libraries package)

Manual/Batch process Yes/Yes
Additional information: 34189, 34166, 34160

Other means of communicating with external systems

- Standard Windows Clipboard Copy/Paste functionality is available from all table editors as well as grid views

- Comma-delimited files can be automatically converted to fixed-width for seriatim inforce loading by using built in batch job.

- AXIS DataLink/System Log and certain other  reports can be saved as HTML files for future viewing or use in other systems
